It so happened that I talked mainly about Philips' top audio solutions from the Fidelio line (L1 and X1 headphones, P9 dock), but the company has many good budget segment solutions, such as the DS3205 with stereo speakers and a Lightning connector, which will be discussed.
Several years ago, various analysts viedly promised the imminent decline of the “microsystems” segment, which, in their opinion, should have gone into the past along with all the material carriers, while various docking stations with speakers just had to bloom in wild color. Their prediction came true only by half: microsystems are still alive (although not so popular), while docking stations really do a lot of all kinds. Of course, the developers of Philips could not get past this segment: they very tightly covered the entire market segment with their models, starting with deluxe P9, and ending with budget models, like our today's hero. With a fairly moderate price tag of 4500 rubles (and even less abroad), it looks attractive. What is offered for this money?

Package and Delivery
A small box of white glossy cardboard, the main element of the decor are the photos of the dock itself and a list of functions in different languages. Internal locks holding the docking station in the box are made according to the latest eco-mode from recycled paper.
In addition to the dock, you will also get a power supply and a small cable with two 3.5 mm plugs (the latter is a bit surprising given that this cable was not included in the more expensive models).
Design and management
Appearance to match the price is made as simple as possible. The docking station resembles an oval bowl made of glossy plastic, the front part is made of cloth. Plastic is a brand, but as they usually look at the back side a little, this is not so significant.
The main controls are exactly three. On-off button on the top panel, volume rocker at the bottom near the dock. Sideways in the recess are hidden connectors connect the power supply and 3.5 mm audio input, which allows you to connect, if necessary, the device without Lightning.
On the bottom panel is a tight battery cover. It is worth noting that the Philips DS3205 is very economical with batteries, and with four AA-quality elements I had, during the test, I played 8 hours and a half at medium volume.
Everywhere, both on the packaging and on the sticker on the column, Philips emphasizes that the device is intended only for the latest Apple technology models equipped with a Lightning connector (which is reasonable, since buying a device with the wrong connector with the wrong connector will be a shame).
Sound
Unlike older models, such as the P9, just stuffed with proprietary technologies, the DS3205 is clearly a budget solution, in which everything is simple: an amplifier and a pair of speakers, no special frills, except for the bass boost function, which copes well with its tasks.
First of all, it is worth noting that the DS3205 is quite loud for its size, the speakers are great enough to sound the middle room, although distortions will already be noticeable at maximum volume. In defense of the dock, it’s worth saying that the majority will not need the maximum loudness, such devices are simply not intended for sounding large areas, their purpose is to listen to music in the “near field”, and everything is quite good.
The bass is raised in the spirit of the latest fashion trends, which adds liveliness to the music, the middle without any flaws and failures, the upper frequencies are also present, although not as much as the more expensive models of the same Philips. In general, considering the price, the sound is quite decent.

A good device of the budget segment, a good appearance is complemented by normal sound and the ability to work on batteries. To this docking station, you can buy, for example, iPod Touch and get a universal multimedia device for the home, which can be a media player, and an alarm clock, and Internet radio, and perform a thousand more functions.
