For several years now, Meze has been promoting the idea of headphones that use wood in one form or another. In addition to a number of overhead models, they also make in-ear headphones, of course, using the same natural materials. Their new deco will be devoted to today's review.
Meze is a European company, and although the headphones are clearly manufactured at an OEM factory in China, they say they refine the models and tune them in accordance with their understanding of sound. Deco - their new model, recently appeared on the market. You can buy it in for 65 euros with free shipping. What does the buyer get for this money?

Package and Delivery
The box is quite simple. A small cardboard box with an eyelet for hanging on the rack is made mainly in white. In general, white is the main color in the Meze Deco style, it is used to its maximum. In the box there is a white case on a snake, in which you will find the headphones themselves and a set of three pairs of silicone tips of different sizes. The kit also includes a carabiner with which you can hang the case somewhere on the belt or, for example, to a backpack.
In general, the package is not bad, but for such a price it could be better.
Design and wearing comfort
Headphones look very good. The body is made of natural beech with preservation of all the features of the tree. The front and back sides are metal. On the outside is a graceful company logo. Build quality is very good, everything is adjusted carefully and carefully.
The cable resembles Apple's headphone wires in white, silicone-insulated. It looks great, although it will probably get dirty. In the cold, it hardens a little, but it is not critical. The microphone effect is almost absent, the cable is moderately prone to tangling. On the right wire is a one-button headset with a microphone. The splitter for reliability is reinforced with a metal tube, the plug is made at an angle of 45 °.
With proper selection of nozzles, wearing comfort is good, sound insulation is also not bad.

The sound of the headphones is very dark, with a bias in the low frequencies. They have a lot of bass, they are clearly designed for connoisseurs of this part of the range, since they do not do so well with the rest.
Deco has a lot of bass, he is somewhere in the area where the quality turns into quantity, barely restraining from moving it. It is well controlled, but due to total redundancy, it sometimes loses its texture and clarity. The dominant bass determines the narrow specialization of headphones: they are good for rap, pop music, simple electronics, in general - those genres that do not require high resolution, and the dynamics of the bass get their advantages.
Middle frequencies are not bad, but they suffer from an excess of low frequencies, which they are periodically jammed. In those recordings where the bass is a bit, the midrange is quite pleasing, but if the bass exceeds the average number, the middle frequencies turn out to be muffled and sound very dull. There is no particular point in talking about the separation of instruments or any scene. In fact, the headphones are not designed for this.
High frequencies are initially muted, they are not enough quantitatively on almost any recordings. Given the intended use of headphones with smartphones, this is even good, since poor RF sources are poorly controlled, and a sharp sound would ruin the whole bassheedness of these headphones.
Compatibility
Headphones are designed for use with any source. I tested them with iPad Air, iPod Classic, Sandisk Sansa Clip + - sound degradation is not observed. There is no need to talk about recording requirements here, since headphones are genrely very non-universal.
Headset quality is not bad, although during the conversation it is better to bring the microphone closer to your face.

The main claim to these headphones is a bit overpriced, primarily due to the fact that Meze is a European company. If they were 40 percent cheaper, they would be in their niche, but now they can be recommended to lovers of bass and energetic sound, or to those who like this design.
