Apple continues, without any fuss or fuss, to acquire useful companies. This time, the giant from Cupertino bought the company Novauris, which grew out of the British division of the well-known Dragon Systems, the company that was at the forefront of human speech recognition technology.
Novauris was founded in 2002. The top management of the company is represented by Yun Kim, Melvin Hunt and John Bridle, who previously worked at Dragon, Nortel, Marconi, Aurix and SRI. The latter, by the way, helped to be born to the Siri service.
Everyone knows that Apple does not like to advertise the purchase of small companies. Even after the information leaked to the network, and journalists sent dozens of official requests to the Apple press service, the management of the corporation from Cupertino refused to comment on its purchase. And only the head of Novauris on the phone admitted to reporters that his company really is now part of Apple. In fact, the acquisition of the company took place at the end of 2013, but nobody knew about it until that time.
Novauris has developed a special technology of almost instantaneous human speech recognition - ASR, using huge data arrays located on remote servers, as well as any useful information on the user's mobile device. This technology has been patented, and it can be assumed that for the first time it will be used precisely in Apple devices.
Today, it is known that Novauris has joined the division responsible for developing the Siri voice assistant, and is currently improving its performance. One can only hope that one day Siri will speak Russian.
