Headphones, which will be discussed today, could, perhaps, make a small revolution. It was with Havi B3 that a wave of interest in the products of Chinese manufacturers, working exclusively for the domestic market, began. This model accidentally attracted the interest of users of the famous Head-Fi forum, quickly collected a lot of positive reviews and became popular all over the world.
Naturally, the question arose: "if one model is so good, maybe in China there are still good headphones that are not known outside of it?". The search for interesting copies on Taobao with the purchase through intermediaries and the subsequent writing of reviews has turned into a kind of sport. So, a number of interesting models were opened, such as Xiaomi Pistons, Ostry KC06 and many others (I hope to talk about some of them soon). In turn, the demand generated an offer, there were online stores selling successful models to the whole world, a number of manufacturers have mastered international sites such as Alibaba. But Havi B3 still have a reputation for excellent headphones for their money.
What is so good about these headphones? First, they are quite inexpensive, their price is about $ 70 (at the time of review). Secondly, they use two dynamic radiators on each ear for better processing of the frequency range. Thirdly, they exist in two versions, allowing you to choose the sound that is more like: neutral Havi B3 Pro 1 (they are the same old version) and more bass type Havi B3 Pro 2, sometimes called bass edition.

Packing and delivery kit
Initially, in Havi for B3 developed a simple box of transparent plastic, reminiscent of the packaging Xiaomi Pistons, inside housed headphones and a few nozzles. Later, in caring about buyers, they decided to improve the delivery package, so now the headphones are sold in a bag with a clasp, which is added with what is considered a necessary bonus for them.
In addition to the original plastic box with B3, you will get a round hard case on the snake, a cloth bag for puffs, a cloth for wiping and a package of additional attachments. The last is quite a lot, with Havi you get: 3 pairs of single-flange nozzles made of soft white silicone, 3 pairs of single-flange attachments made of black silicone are harder, 3 pairs of two-flange nozzles and a pair of foam nozzles.
In general, despite the unpretentious packaging, the delivery kit is very, very happy.
Design and comfortable wearing
The external appearance of the Havi B3 body immediately causes a steady deja vu. Do not be a special connoisseur to learn the Sennheiser model IE80, the molds of which were clearly used by the manufacturers of Havi. These headphones from Sennheiser are clearly included in the top of the most forged models, behind only the Beats. The inside of the Havi B3 and the overall shape of the earpiece are a complete clone of the model from the Germans. We worked better on the outside. Firstly, it lost its tweeter, regulating the amount of bass (the proprietary little-useful "feature" of Sennheiser), and secondly, the exterior of Havi is decorated with a panel of tempered glass with the company logo. Thanks to this, B3 looks very interesting. This model is worn behind the back, which I have always considered a purely positive factor.
A well-thought-out form of the earpiece with an angled sound source provides a comfortable fit for the owners of almost any ears, and a large set of nozzles allows you to choose a comfortable option. Therefore, wearing headphones is very comfortable. By the way, if there are not enough complete attachments for some reason, you can use a set of Chinese clones of Sennheiser IE8, in recent years the level of counterfeits of the latter is such that they can not be distinguished from the original, the same applies to complete accessories.
In addition, the wire is very different. In Havi made a high-quality, four-wire cable made of oxygen-free copper, so that both headphones have a separate "ground" wire. Owners of players, amplifiers and DACs with a balanced output can take advantage of this, and a simple change of the plug turn the B3 into a headphone with a balanced connection. This, by the way, makes sense, since Havi is quite difficult to build and like powerful sources, and balanced amplifiers are usually such. The cable is reasonably soft, not prone to entanglement, it hardens in the frost, but not much. The microphone effect is poorly expressed, primarily due to BTE wearing.
Sound
The following equipment was used for listening:
- Yulong DA8 as a DAC and amplifier
- Resonessence Labs Concero HP as a DAC and Amplifier
- Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2013 as a source
- Fidelia as a player
- Fiio X5 and QLS QA360 as portable players
- VSonic Gr01 and HiFiMan Re600 as headphones for comparison
- High Definition Records in Lossless-formats (Dr. Chesky The Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc and others)
Before listening to the headphones were warmed for 48 hours.
Initially, Havi released two versions of this model. "Enhanced" with a strong bass, trying to emulate popular headphones for LF lovers (who said "Beats"?), And "Pro", featuring a neutral handwriting and a wide imaginary scene. Given the affordable price, this model was a breakthrough, despite the fact that it was not sold outside of China. However, due to some reasons, Pro were withdrawn from production. They were replaced by a variation of "Pro 2", which was better than "Enhanced", but also had a V-shaped AFC and a strong bass. After the B3 gained popularity all over the world, users persuaded Havi to return to the conveyor the same classic model Pro 1 (the same as "old"), which is so fond of all.
Thanks courtesy
In general, Pro 2 - a normal, not bad "taste" model for lovers of juicy and energetic sound. To be honest, I do not see much sense in it, with Ostry KC06 and KC06A, for comparable money, they cope with the musical pitch a little better. Quite another matter - Pro 1.
The main condition for the disclosure of these headphones is a powerful source or use of an amplifier. I do not know how this sensitivity was measured in Havi, but the figure of 115 dB per millivar causes me doubts. Power, power, and again power - that's what Havi B3 needs for disclosure. Even the Fiio E12DIY on high gain does not seem to be a brute force for them.
The sound of the headphones is very neutral, very balanced, with an emphasis on the middle frequencies.
The bass in the Pro 1 is assembled and well controlled, it is slightly lowered in the area of the lowest frequencies, so fans of depth should look at other models. In the rest to the bass there are no censures, he fine transfers all the instruments falling into this range, he draws a volume sound picture of the rhythm section, on top of which the rest of the melody is already being built. In general, a wonderful bass for connoisseurs of even filing.
Middle frequencies are the strong side of the model. Thanks to the excellent resolution and speed, they are great at coping with the transfer of vocals, guitars, keys, in general - almost everything. Tools retain their character, division also pleases. Havi B3 is especially good in building an imaginary scene. In terms of volume, they have virtually no competitors, both in width and depth, with the exception, of course, of some expensive top models.
The upper frequencies are also very qualitatively developed. There is a decline at the highest frequencies, but otherwise everything is fine. Havi - one of the few headphones that do not have sharp peaks on the RF, which most favorably affects the overall picture: no harshness, no tiring sibilants.
Compatibility
Despite the low impedance and good enough sensitivity, the Havi B3 is very demanding to amplify the source. With many smartphones and tablets, they corny lacks volume, in addition, their listening significantly affects the battery power. Therefore, I would still recommend using Havi with a good player or amplifier.
To the quality of recording headphones are moderately tolerant, no embellishment, no underscoring of shortcomings is observed. Genre they are very versatile, if, of course, you are a supporter of analytical filing.
conclusions
The headphones deserved their glory rightfully. Good design, reliable design, interesting and detailed sound at an affordable price - all this Havi B3 offers to buyers.
