The company Astrotec - is widely known for its headphones of different levels, from simple budget models and ending with very expensive hybrids. In addition, they, traditionally for China, are the OEM manufacturer of both finished products and individual emitters. This year, they are going to update their lineup sufficiently, and the first model will be the single-driver dynamic headphones GX 50.
In this novelty, according to the company, their new radiator offering higher resolution is used. In addition, the body with an insert from specially processed tempered glass attracts attention, this technology is used for the first time in headphones. Because of the design, the headphones turned out to be clearly feminine, it's hard to imagine this in the male ears, but at least the GX 50 looks many times better than the typical "female" models, since the producers usually have fantasy ends in pink and rhinestones.

Packing and delivery kit
A box of headphones is quite simple. A small box of cardboard with amusing blue and white triangles on it looks simple, in a small window closed with plastic, you can see one of the two headphones. Because of the features of the box, getting to its contents, without tearing the outer packaging - is quite difficult.
Inside, apart from the headphones themselves, you will find: a good pouch on the tightening for carrying headphones, a microfibre cloth for their rubbing (the glass part is necessary), traditional three pairs of silicone tips and a pair of foam nozzles.
In general, nothing superfluous, but the necessary basic minimum is available.
Design and comfortable wearing
Appearance is the strongest side of this model. The inside of the Chinese fashion of the last time is made of translucent plastic, there are options in blue, red and gray. It is quite comfortable and due to the correct shape it lies well in the ear. The outer side shows the main chip GX 50 - an insert from the cut glass. It looks impressive, glare and reflections give the headphones chic, although, of course, the model automatically turns into a female. Due to the shape of the case, the headphones are designed for a BTE wearing. With the right selection of attachments, they are comfortable and can be used for a long time.
Cable in the GX 50 is used interchangeable, and very high-quality. Reinforced with a Kevlar filament, the wire with silver inserts is made in the same color scheme with headphones, it is very elegant, but at the same time durable. The site near the connectors is made with a memory effect, this allows you to form the earhooks for comfortable wearing. In the cold, the wire hardens slightly, but not very much, the microphone effect due to the BTE wear is practically absent. This model uses standard MMCX connectors, so the cable replacement is not a problem, and the GX 50 itself can act as a donor for some other model.
Sound insulation of this product Astrotec - at a typical level for headphones of this form factor, it is enough for most situations, except for the most noisy.
Sound
The following equipment was used for listening:
- Yulong DA8 as a DAC and amplifier
- CEntrance Mini-M8 as DAC and Amplifier
- Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2013 as a source
- Fidelia as a player
- Fiio X3-2 and QLS QA360 as portable players
- VSonic Gr01 and HiFiMan Re600 as headphones for comparison
- High Definition Records in Lossless-formats (Dr. Chesky The Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc and others)
Before listening to the headphones were warmed for 48 hours, there was no change in the sound.
Unfortunately, the sound is the component of the GX-50, over which it has not been finalized, especially it's frustrating in contrast to the excellent appearance of the case and the materials used. The sound depends on the nozzles, with silicone it has a bias towards the low frequencies, the "foam" slightly level it, but the common features remain unchanged.
The bass in the GX50 is clearly accented, it's pretty much quantified, especially with silicone nozzles, but it's not always well controlled, which leads to "emissions" on the mid-range. Foam nozzles are more or less corrected. Resolution and texture - at an average level.
Medium frequencies are the most problematic part in the sound of the GX 50: they are not properly formatted, and because of this, the emotionality of the music and the transmission of nuances are very lost, which in turn leads to a sense of constriction and small space.
The upper frequencies are normal. Stars from the sky do not grab, but not frankly clamped, as is often done with dark headphones. Due to this, the GX50 does not turn out to be completely hopeless, the HF compensates for the emphasis on bass, and it's quite possible to listen to complicated genres in these headphones.
Compatibility
Headphones do not require a high-quality source, because of their taste, they play well with smartphones and tablets. I tested them with the iPhone 6 Plus, Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip and iPad Air, with all the headphones playing without dropping the sound level.
Genre GX 50, of course, designed for simple styles - pop music, simple electronics, simple rock and others like him, those genres where the dark character of the sound is preferable.
The headphones are not critical to recordings, even MP3s sound quite sound in them, it's a positive side of the flavoring.
conclusions
Very ambiguous model. On the one hand - an unusual appearance, interesting materials, replaceable cable, giving them practicality. On the other hand - an ambiguous sound and a fairly high price, primarily due to the assembly and materials used. The headphones are not in their price category, where there are a lot of very strong competitors. Therefore, choosing them is primarily due to the appearance, and if you listen to music that is genre suitable for them.
