The very first attempt by Xiaomi in the headphones market was successful at once. The Xiaomi Pistons model was so good for its price that even fakes appeared on it, which in our time can be considered a quality mark. After the success of the headphones in the company decided to forge the iron while hot and released a full-size model, artlessly called Xiaomi Mi Headphones.
For the new model in Xiaomi decided to repeat all the successful finds of "pistons". First, I paid much attention to design, I will tell more about it in the corresponding section, but on this point the headphones were uniquely successful. Much was invested in the development of packaging, along with a complete set of supplies, which is only the fact that the headphones are supplied with 3 different types of ear cups. For the sound in these headphones, two large radiators with a beryllium coating of the diaphragm (why I need it - I already wrote in the Pistons review) are responsible for the sound, but the sound model was definitely not audiophile because of the accent on the bass, about it read below.

Packing and delivery kit
The fact that good designers worked on the headphones is immediately noticeable, their work is felt in everything, starting with the packaging. A white box of glossy cardboard, sealed in film, looks very, very expensive. Inside everything is just as thoughtful: the accessories are arranged in separate boxes, everything has its place.
The package is also impressive, except for the headphones in it you will find:

In general, here Mi Headphones do their best to create the impression of an expensive thing, and they are quite successful.
Design and comfortable wearing
Appearance Mi Headphones can really envy the many flagships of other manufacturers. Despite the fact that the shape of the cups resembles the headphones Grado, Xiaomi managed to make very distinctive headphones.
The design uses a lot of "expensive" materials, mainly metal and high-quality imitation leather, plastic is practically absent. The color scheme of Mi Headphones is black and gold. There is achieved a very good balance between the love of the golden color, characteristic of the eastern markets, and the restraint that the western market appreciates. Despite the use of a flashy color, the headphones did not turn out to be feminine or childish. Much attention in the design is given to small details, such as the red thread, which is sewn into the headband and the grill covering the outer side of the cups.
This model leaves the most pleasant sensations even tactile - the metal pleasantly cold hands and inspires confidence in the durability, important for portable headphones, while the Mi'shki turned out to be not heavy.
Forks are traditional, they allow the cups to rotate around two axes, ensuring proper fit. Unfortunately, the ability to turn the cups to 90 ° for comfortable wearing of headphones on the neck is missing, but it is possible to fold headphones for compactness in transportation. All mechanical parts are very reliable - the adjustment of the size clearly fixes the positions, as well as the mechanism for folding the cups.
The cable for this model is replaceable, a symmetrical connection is used, in which the wires go from the splitter to each cup separately, it is not as convenient as a one-sided cable, but makes the design more reliable. The complete cable is quite good, up to the splitter it is in the fabric braid, above it - in silicone, the splitter is combined with a one-button universal headset. In the design, even a protective spring was provided, protecting the cable from a break near the plug. For this decision I want to say Xiaomi thanks, because the cable is one of the weakest parts of most headphones, and then the buyer tried to protect from problems, and in extreme cases the wire can simply be replaced. One of the main features of the model - removable ear pads, providing a different sound (about him below). The set includes overhead ambouchurcs from perforated leatherette, a very soft version of velor and, finally, large ear cups that turn Mi Headphones into a female model. The fastening of the ear cups is very simple, it is enough to turn them off, they are fastened by a new reverse turn, quickly and easily.
All three pairs are very comfortable, which in combination with a soft headband and light weight makes these headphones very comfortable in long-term wear. Sound insulation is slightly worse than that of closed models, but since there is a dense damper inside, they are not as acoustically transparent as open models and, despite the fact that the outer side of the cups is taken up by a grating, use them on the street in most cases quite it is possible (although the metro and planes, of course, fall away).

Before evaluating the sound, the headphones were warmed for 48 hours.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi did not make a model aimed at audiophiles by sound, fortunately - most people do not need this. Mi's headphones received a typical "mass" sound with a V-shaped AFC and a solid accent at low frequencies. The sound most depends on the choice of ear cups.
By default, headphones are worn with ear pads from perforated leatherette. They give a typical "bit-like" sound - a lot of average bass, the failed mid-frequency and bright HF, which are necessary for the balance of LF. The best option for connoisseurs of pop, EDM, rap and other genres. You can listen, of course, and light rock and other simple styles, but no more. The sound is quite squeezed, there is practically no volume, but the "quality" for LF lovers will be more than solid.
Another "overhead" ear pads included in the kit are made of velor. They greatly remove the emphasis on both LF and HF, bringing forward the mid-range. Unfortunately, with the muffling of the high frequencies they slightly overdo, which gives a rather murky sound. In general, the most incomprehensible to me in sound ear cups, although very comfortable.
The best sound is obtained with full-sized ear pads. They smooth out the V-shape of the overhead option, the sound is much more versatile. Of course, the emphasis on LF and HF still remains, but not so critical. The middle is still not enough, but it's not a failure, but just an easy shortcoming, a kind of imaginary scene appears. In this version, the headphones are quite suitable for most music listeners who are not looking for perfectionism, with these ear pads, Mi sounds very bouncy and dynamic, with them it's good to watch movies and play.
Compatibility
The headphones, naturally, were designed for simple sources, the optimal resistance at 32Ω and good sensitivity allow them to show their maximum with almost any device, including phones and tablets. There is no sense in individual players and DACs for this model.
To the quality of the recording, they, like all the flavoring headphones, are not particularly picky, they will do well with MP3 files, and with a stream of streaming services, and Internet radio.
The microphone is surprisingly good in quality, you will be well heard by the interlocutors.
conclusions
Of course, it's a pity that Xiaomi went on about the mass consumers and made the sound of headphones with an emphasis on bass, frightening off all audiophiles. In Xiaomi they decided to attract the audience from the world's best-selling headphones and offered a similar sound (with overhead earbuds), a lower price and a much higher level of performance. For "ordinary listeners" this model will be just a find, and even more demanding listeners with the option of enveloping ear pads may like it.
