The British company Trinity Audio can be considered in some way a startup in the world of headphones. Appearing relatively recently, they immediately rolled out a powerful line of three interesting models of headphones of different levels. For initial funding, they launched a successful crowd-hosting company, but now their headphones can be purchased on the site. I could not pass by and decided to tell about the company lineup, and start with the budget model Hyperion.
I do not know what was the source of inspiration for the name of this model, whether the name of the titan is from ancient Greek mythology, whether the great novel by Dan Simmons, or something else, but the name does not exactly convey the essence of this model, since its dimensions are surprisingly small . Surprisingly, in a small, very small metal case, the developers managed to place a well-sounding speaker, which provided the model with a very good sound.
This model is the most budgetary proposal in the company's model range,
I will briefly tell about the Trinity lineup. In addition to Hyperion, it includes Techie - more expensive dynamic headphones with replaceable filters, and Delta - hybrids, also with filters. Recently, the lineup has been expanded with Atlas headphones - sporty moisture-proof hybrid headphones with a replaceable cable and, yes, also with the ability to tune sound with filters. In the near future, the upgrade Delta was announced (more filters and replaceable cables), as well as a number of top-end multi-driver models, including wireless headphones.
In general, Trinity Audio Engineering boldly expand its lineup, not stinting on experiments (my favorite feature in any company), but for now consider those models that are already being sold.

Packing and delivery kit
All models of the company use the same box of gray cardboard with a magnetic valve, differs only in the embedded model of headphones and a set of accessories. I can say that I approve of such a reasonable approach, which allows the company to save a little for the benefit of future users.
In addition to the headphones themselves, Hyperion includes 4 pairs of gray single-flange silicone attachments, a pair of two-flange attachments made of white silicone, a triangular snake-type cover for the company's products, a clothes clip for attaching the cable to the clothes and an adapter that allows turning the straight plug into a corner.
This adapter is really a fun accessory, I've seen a lot of controversy about which jack is better, but only the developers of Trinity took a step towards satisfying the fans of both camps.
Design and wearing comfort
The first thing you feel when you get the Hyperion out of the box is a surprise at their size. They are very, very small, even by the standards of headphones-plugs. Despite the small size, their body is made of aluminum, and the level of performance does not cause criticism. However, the lack of flaws in the assembly, fortunately, has recently become the norm for headphones. The only decoration of the case - the company logo, applied to the body.
Thanks to the tiny size, the headphones easily "sit" in any ears, do not interfere with wearing a hat, sleeping on their side and, in general, sometimes allow to forget about their availability. Sound insulation is typically average for the form factor, although if you put them deeper, it can be improved.
The cable is protected with a cloth braid, this protects it from hardening in the frost and allows it to easily unravel, but the rustle, which the wire makes when rubbing against clothes, is paying for it. Combat this with the help of a complete clothespin. Also, deep fit and wearing of headphones (the benefit of their small size allows them to be worn both behind the ear, and cable down). Actually, it was enough for me to use the BTE wear.
The cable exit points from the headphones are protected by small plastic protectors, their color makes it easy to distinguish the left channel (blue) from the right (red). The small size of the protectors causes fears for a cable fracture near the headphones, but I think this is compensated by the cloth braid. Block splitter and plug quality, made of metal with cool longitudinal ribbing. The cable near the jack is protected by a spring. On the wire of the left earpiece there is a block of a simple one-button headset.
Sound
The following equipment was used for listening:
- NuPrime DAC-10H and Resonessence Labs Concero HP as DAC and Amplifier
- Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2013 as a source
- Fidelia as a player
- Fiio X7 and Luxury & Precission L5Pro as portable players
- VSonic Gr01, Dunu Titan 1 and Dunu DN-2000J as headphones for comparison
- High Definition Records in Lossless-formats (Dr. Chesky The Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc and others)
Before listening to the headphones were warmed for 48 hours.
It is worth noting that, like many headphones, especially small ones, Hyperion depends on the landing, so to get the best result, you may have to experiment and pick up such attachments that will provide the most dense insulation. At me with this task double white nozzles have coped well, also I heard good responses about foam nozzles from Comply (in the complete set do not enter).
Engineers Trinity managed to achieve for the headphones a delicious sound, with a slight emphasis on LF and well-designed midrange. The filing produces a very pleasant impression by its balance and versatility.
The bass of the headphones is slightly underlined to create an effect of pleasant elasticity. Of course, it is not very deep, but it is very well developed. The speed of the LF is very dependent on the source, and on slow players, Hyperion can make a little bit, although there are not such good sources, which is even surprising given the emphasis on LF.
Medium frequencies are good for this price range. If you close the price on the eye, you can blame for the resolution of the lower midrange, but for the 50-dollar model it's really nitpicking (and taking into account the discounts - and even more so). The middle of "Hyperion" is quite alive, its headphones are slightly smoothed to give a sound to the music, and they, in general, succeed. The imaginary scene is slightly larger than the average in width, but not very deep. The instruments are well separated, their character is transmitted at a normal level (although the headphones do not pull records on this parameter).
The upper frequencies are slightly removed quantitatively to achieve the effect of a comfortable and not sharp sound, but they are enough to play out the instruments that fall into the high-frequency range. The sound of this model is not the most aerial, but those who do not like HF, most likely, will be satisfied with the model.
Compatibility
Headphones, of course, can be used with smartphones / tablets, the headset on the wire on this clearly hints, but with simple sources, these headphones will not open themselves 100%. They are well suited for modern smartphones with a separate DAC / amplifier or specialized players of primary and secondary level. Tops, of course, also suitable (with L5Pro "Hyperion" play fine), but it will already be an obvious "bust". In general, this model has a very good stock of "level", and it is capable of very well to benefit from the growth of the source to a certain limit.
Genre headphones are versatile enough. Of course, for complex genres such as brutal metal or symphonic classics it is better to choose something more high-level, but for their price Hyprion copes with all popular and not very styles. The sensitivity of the headphones to the quality of the record, I would have estimated somewhere in 6 out of 10.
The microphone of the complete headset is of medium quality. If you bring it close to your mouth during a conversation - the interlocutors will hear you well.
Traditionally, several examples
Newsted - ... As the Crow Flies. Jason Newsted after leaving Metallica recorded exactly the album that fans from the band were waiting for. No flirting with nu-metal, no popular moves. Strong downhole heavy metal, stuffed with excellent solos, swinging riffs and husky vocals, returns the listener to the golden 80s, so rich in hit releases. I really want to believe that Newsted, contrary to the accepted decision, will not stop on one album of the same band, but for now it still remains to listen to this disc again and again. Hyperion is a bit short of aggression on the MF, but the underlined bass adds a lot of vitality to the shock parts, as a result, the record sounds very, very juicy.
Tuomas Holopainen - Duel & Cloudscapes. That's what fits well with these headphones, so these are similar tracks. Rumble of thunder in the beginning, and a cheerful melody with powerful percussion emphasizes the strengths of these headphones. Of course, for the complete transfer of the epic symphonic canvas created by Tuomas, the Hyperions do not have a lot of RF, but they compensate it with interest and energy, so much that one does not even want to quibble. By the way, the next track of the album is also very, very good. And the previous one. And all the rest too.
Faith no More - We Care a Lot. A band that is compulsory to listen to any aesthetic snob from heavy music. Perhaps, it is they who can be considered the founders of the idea of mixing heavy metal with rap vocals, and as they say, "and it was good." This track, of course, is one of the tops of creativity, not only of this collective, but of the entire genre. The wild charge of stinging sarcasm, dressed in a musical form and sent directly to the cerebellum of listeners, is still listening very freshly and fervently. Hyperion transmit it with a pleasant accentuation of LF and mitigation of the MF, which is necessary for this old recording already, as a result getting a vigorous and energetic pitch, which is what this track is needed.
conclusions
Very successful model from all sides, copes well with its role of headphones for those who want, not much spent, to get high-quality sound. Compact size, comfortable fit and thoughtful design add to this appeal model for connoisseurs of vigorous and energetic filing with a slight emphasis on bass.
