Usually the headphones that come to my hands are created by the developers in order to ensure the maximum sound quality, so the absolute majority of them are wired solutions. But wireless technology still does not stand still, and the same Bluetooth takes an increasingly active place in the sun. Therefore, when I had a chance to review the wireless novelty Brainwavz BLU-200, I did not habitually brush it aside and took them into circulation.
Brainwavz currently produces two almost identical models of wireless headphones that received the BLU-100 and BLU-200 indices, respectively. They share a common form factor (headphones-plugs, connected by cable), they also have a common set of functions, the price is also very close. The difference lies solely in sound, since different radiators have been used.
What do modern technologies offer us?

Packing and delivery kit
With the box in this model decided to do as simple as possible: it is small and made of plain cardboard. Polygraphy is also restrained. Inside the box there is a standard tight Brainwavz case on the snake, in it there are the BLU-200 and accessories.
In addition to the headphones, the kit includes: three pairs of silicone nozzles of different sizes, a pair of Comply foams, a Micro-USB charging cable and a pair of rubber "ears" that are worn on the headphones and improve fixation in the ear.
Design and management
Unfortunately, the current level of development of Bluetooth-headphones does not allow making them in the form of two completely unrelated inserts. The protocol allows to transmit sound only to one receiver, so there is a problem how to transfer sound to the second "ear". Some bold manufacturers have released headphones using a radio channel for communication (one earpiece receives a signal from the device, plays it and transmits it via a separate channel to the second earpiece). Unfortunately, the human head with the inside of the brain is not the best medium for spreading weak radio waves, and I think that you understand how bad the idea of increasing power is. Therefore, the most common form-factor of such solutions are two headphones, connected together by a wire. This wire can be placed either behind the head or below. An additional plus of this connector - with it headphones can be hung on the neck.
In general, it is obvious that it is in this format that the BLU-200 is made - long metal cases, connected by a flat wire, which also houses a three-button headset and a microphone unit. In the center of the wire there is a slider, which allows, if necessary, to tighten the wire from behind at the back of the head, providing a more secure fixation when doing sports.
The cases of the headphones are cylindrical, they are large enough and clearly protrude from the ears. On the one hand, it's logical - the battery and electronics have to be placed somewhere. On the other hand, they look a bit strange, and you can not put a head on their side with them. The material is mostly aluminum, so the BLU-200 is also quite heavy, although with well-chosen nozzles, they stay in the ears qualitatively and do not cause any discomfort.
The control panel is standard, it contains three buttons, the central one of which also serves to turn on and off. Her long press, when the headphones are off, takes them to pairing mode. On the panel there is an unobtrusive white LED light, mostly useful for indicating charging. All basic actions are duplicated by voice in English. In general, the management of the BLU-200 is very simple and intuitive.
They are charged through the connector on one of the headphones, full charging requires somewhere 1 hour and 45 minutes, this allows you to listen to music for about 4 hours. I had an average of about 3 hours and 50 minutes.
The signal quality is very good, headphones work even through the average thickness of the wall. The times when Bluetooth headsets lost their connection just like that, have long ago become a thing of the past, and with BLU-200 I have never had a similar problem.
The build quality of the model is at a very good level, there are no flaws and censures.
Sound
These headphones support APT-X, so to maximize their potential, you need a device whose developers licensed the appropriate codec. Therefore, for example, with the MacBook, the sound quality goes a little better (albeit on the verge of hearing) than with the iPhone, and it was I who used it as a source in the tests.
In 200 Brainwavz models, the sound was turned to the "mass" side, larger emitters added depth and weight to the bass. It is supplemented with a well-developed middle and neatly clamped HF, made at the request of those who "saws". In general, a good variant of bass sound for modern genres.
LF in this headset clearly dominate. Not so, of course, much like the Beats or, for example, the fresh Xiaomi models, but still the sound is built on a dark pitch. The bass is stressed quantitatively, it's deep enough (well for a wireless headset so precisely), the speed is not the highest, there is a little bit of conditioning, but not critical. Modern pop and rock music gives a pleasant body, and lovers of mass electronic genres will definitely be satisfied.
Middle frequencies occasionally suffer from creeping bass, but not often. Otherwise, the MF is not bad, the resolution is not prohibitive, but taking into account the price - more than good. Emotions are transmitted normally, the nature of the instruments is also conveyed quite reliably, corrected for the failure of HF. The imaginary scene is medium in width and less than average in depth, which is typical for wireless devices.
HF is allotted to the second plan. Not so much that the sound turned out quite deaf and cloudy, but there is not enough airiness for the headphones. I think it was done specifically to ensure that the HF did not cut the rumor, and it was obvious to the engineers.
Very good BLU-200 cope with movies and games, all sorts of shots, explosions and roar of motors - their strengths.
If you prefer a more neutral and light feed - the Brainwavz has a BLU-100 model tuned more towards mid and high frequencies.
conclusions
Very good headphones for a portable user who does not want to burden himself with wires. If you listen to simple music and love the bass drive, and do not suffer from forgetfulness (you need to charge them regularly), then the BLU-200 will become your reliable companion. A pleasant price only adds to their attractiveness.
