Japanese electronics manufacturer Sony has traditionally organized a small press conference to introduce the press and visitors to the CES 2017 with its innovations in the field of TVs, acoustics, and much, much more. What pleased us with Sony this year?
After an impressive video demonstrating Sony technology, modern video games, gadgets, and Sony Pictures studio movies, Kazuo Hirai, the incumbent president of Sony, climbed the scene. He greeted the guests of Las Vegas and viewers who watch the online broadcast on the Web.
First of all, Hirai shared with the audience his enthusiasm for the new display technology - Crystal LED. On the screens created by this technology, no pixels are visible, even if you stand close to them. A huge screen is installed on the exhibition stand of the company, and after the conference anyone can go up to him and see it personally.
HDR technology, which allows to display on the screen a 100% wider color spectrum, is actively promoted by Sony in its products. It is supported in the new TVs of the Bravia series. Both PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles also support the High Dynamic Range.
The heart of the Bravia TVs is the X1 Extreme processor, 40% more powerful than its predecessor, and also supports 4K and HDR. And the new line of TVs Bravia A1E and is completely developed on the basis of OLED-displays. At that moment a completely unexpected turn followed. For the first time in the history of TV production, sound is fed through the vibrations of the display itself. There are no more individual speakers, and all their functions are performed by the display. The technology is called Acoustic Surface. This is really an innovation. Along with the A1E lineup, Sony will also release models of the X930E (55 or 65 inches) and X940E (75 inches), which use traditional matrices.
Projectors working at ultra-short distance, were presented a couple of years ago, but this year Sony announced their updated versions. Including the VPL-VZ1000ES, capable of projecting a 100-inch image onto the wall from a distance of only 6 inches. However, the pleasure is very expensive, since the projector costs $ 25,000. Previous model will cost $ 15,000.
The company releases its first HDR 4K Blue-Ray player UBP-X1000 with support for all modern optical media without exception. And also a new soundbar for movie lovers.
Personal audio still occupies an important place among the products of the Japanese company. Hi-Fi players, headphones and other accessories continue to be developed and enter the market. This time, for example, we were presented with a new model of headphones with an innovative noise reduction system.
Digital cameras and cameras are also very important for Sony. The professional model of the camera Alpha 99 II is presented. The camera is able to capture even the fastest moving objects. Alpha 6500 - a more compact camera that supports the shooting of 4K-video. And the RX100V is another compact camera in the popular RX lineup.
Life Space UX - the philosophy of using living space as efficiently as possible. Lamps, combined with speakers, smart wearable gadgets, tiny projectors that project the picture directly on the table in front of you - all this Sony intends to actively develop and improve in the coming years.
The PlayStation 4 game console has sold over the past holiday period with a circulation of 6.4 million boxes. And just around the world today, just over 53.4 million PS4 and PS4 Pro are sold. The virtual reality headset PlayStation VR is still promoted by the company, but its sales did not begin to sound. Still would. After all, Sony has not yet released a new batch of devices, so the stores in Europe and the US headset simply can not be bought. I think that as soon as the Japanese cope with production difficulties, sales of the device will again become stable.
The conference came to an end. Kazuo Hirai wished all attendees a wonderful CES exhibition and offered to go to the exhibition stand of Sony, where you can see the presented novelties.
