The company Oriveti immediately demonstrated that they know how to create stylish and well-sounded headphones. Their three-driver hybrids Primacy proved that developers have their own, quite interesting vision of the sound and they can implement it. In the role of additional evidence was followed by simple Basic dynamos and an update of the hybrid model, which received the simple name New Primacy.
Externally, the model of special changes has not undergone, you can see the review of the first version and compare, the main difference in the eye is the replacement of wires and attachments. But by the sound of the headphones made a noticeable step forward, "tonalka" has become noticeably grown up, but more on this below.
The price remained the same, New Primacy still cost exactly $ 300.

Packing and delivery kit
The headphone box is tasteful. Black thick cardboard, a combination of glossy and matte textures, high-quality printing, convenient separation of the internal space - all this shows the quality work of the product manager.
All accessories to the headphones are securely fixed in separate compartments, except New Primacy you will receive:
- two pairs of medium-sized foam nozzles
- two pairs of two-flange silicone attachments
- two pairs of single-flange silicone attachments of three sizes

Before us, perhaps, a reference example of high-quality presentation of headphones of the middle price segment.
Design and comfortable wearing
The appearance of the Oriveti headphones was also successful, thin metallic black cases look very interesting due to the use of matte texture. Small dimensions provide a comfortable and secure fit for even the owners of small ears. Theoretically, the New Primacy can be worn with a cable down, but they are designed to be worn behind the back, therefore I would highly recommend this method. The build quality is impeccable, no flaws.
The soundtrays of this model are of medium length, so sound insulation is also not a record, but for most situations it will be enough, especially with two-flange attachments.
The wire from the new Primacy interchangeable, Oriveti made a very interesting complete lace. It consists of 8 thin conductors, each ear has 4, thanks to this openwork twisted structure it turned out to be very soft, but reliable. There is no microphone effect, the wire does not harden on the frost and is not prone to entanglement. Very good tight MMCX connectors are used for the connection. Oriveti has on sale a separate premium cable for New Primacy, but the complete one is so good in performance that I would probably not change it.
Sound
The following equipment was used for listening.

Before listening to the headphones were warmed for 48 hours, noticeable changes in the sound were only at the very beginning of warm-up.
New Primacy retained the same slightly smoothed pitch as the old version, but with that they do not have the "trim" of the MF, which distinguished the old model. Therefore, if we say "in general" - the headphones are perceived differently.
The Primacy-2 bass (I think you can call them so) is very good, but not the fastest. It's audible that a dynamic driver works, but that's why we love hybrids. LF - weighty, tangible and very nicely worked out. Headphones are distinguished by a good depth of bass and the ability to convey the texture of the "bottoms" without dryness, characteristic of many purely reinforcing models.
In the first version of Primacy, midrange was slightly overshadowed by bass, which created the effect of "powerful bass", in the New version of the bass is exactly the same, but because of changes in the mid-range, the sound of the model is perceived to be more even, and this is in favor of filing. The resolution here is good, although not prohibitive, the headphones have a slightly smoothed feed, but without excesses, the losses in the microdetachment are small and mainly concern the recording problems. Changed and the construction of an imaginary scene, it is wider than the middle and somewhere in the middle in depth, the sound is perceived as more airy, and the instruments are slightly better spaced in space.
The high frequencies in the headphones were also added, as the old version of Primacy had an interesting situation - on the one hand, the RF was smoothed, on the other - there are small peaks that can sometimes come to the fore. In New Primacy, the HF sound is made "more even", they are a bit more quantitative, but the attacks are better worked out, and due to this, the HFs sound more natural and fit better into the "general outline" of the sound. Of course, "RF Fobs" will upset this, but to sharp these headphones, to my ears, it's still far away.
As usual, there are few comparisons with those models that are generally comparable to NP without revolutions like "completely different". It just so happened that there were just hybrid models.
Dunu DN-2000 . A slightly more aggressive version of the heroes of our review: a little more emphasis on midbass (and slightly worse readability of deep bass), a little more HF. The updated Primacy offer a slightly smoother feed with less emphasis on individual sections of the frequency range. Plus on the headphone side Oriveti comfort.
Dunu DK-2002 . Perhaps, this is one more step forward to "non-straining" sound. The DK-2002 has less deep bass and less HF, but it's better to work out the MF, which results in a very natural pitch without pronounced "wow effects". And, of course, with the ergonomics of the product Dunu all noticeably worse.
iBasso IT-03 . Headphones with a totally neutral feed without accents and color. The bass IT-03 is drier and a little faster, on the MF - it's also more detailed and slightly sharper, and on HF, an approximate parity with a slight difference in the arrangement of accents.
FLC 8S . In general, I do not know how to compare these headphones, because the FLC "that wound, it got", but for comparison, I used my usual configuration (details in the review FLC). These IEM have a slightly worse structured bass, especially its "lower half", but it is slightly faster. MF is also faster and slightly sharper, but on the HF I would give Primacy the palm tree - they sound more natural in this part of the range.
Compatibility
Of course, to use these headphones with smartphones and other tablets - there is little sense, although among all their competitors they are probably the best for such experiments, but the potential of the model will be severely limited. 8Ω impedance impose serious limitations on the player, it must cope with such a load and have a low noise level. I hope the fashion to make headphones with an impedance lower than 32Ω will eventually go down in time, but thanks for the sensitivity of only 105 dB (and not 115, like some others). Of the players immediately I can mention the Cayin N5 and L & P L5Pro, although the headphones will also benefit from the source above the level.
Stylistically, these IEM are very versatile. Of course, everyone can choose styles for themselves, on which they like more or less, but this is more a flavor difference. To the quality of recording this model is rather tolerant, scores on 6 on a 10-point scale.
Traditionally several tracks in the role of example
Steven Wilson - Ancestral . I do not think that Stephen needs special representations - a musician, composer, producer, sound engineer ... This is not a full list of merits of a brilliant artist. His solo projects are characterized by a calm melancholy, which Primacy is so cool in conveying, without losing a single gram of virtuosity.
King Crimson - Industry . Here also one more album of classics lived up to 40-year-old anniversary and has undergone to the accurate ремастерингу (or, more precisely, full peresvedenii) from the same Wilson. The sound became more modern and, of course, "tastier", without losing the identity and spirit of the band. This track is distinguished by a beautiful bass line (improved in the anniversary re-release) and who, like New Primacy, please the listener with an updated pitch?
Porcupine Tree - Normal . Well, since we have decided on the theme of this issue, here is another creation of the same author, but this time with the "main group". Uncharacteristic for the creation of the band, the heavy entry, which quickly turns into a brand melancholy, is supplemented with a beautiful bass line, and it's the headphones like the heroes of this review that perfectly match this music.
conclusions
Adulthood, among other things, is the process of transition from emotionality and impulsiveness to restraint and experience. This is how Primacy develops, their "New" -revision is a step forward in terms of technicality, slightly masking the spectacular effect. Oriveti showed that they know how to work with sound, correcting minor shortcomings of the first revision, but retaining all the strong points.
