Holds brand: review of the HyperX Cloud Alpha gaming headset

Despite the rapid development of the mobile gaming industry, gaming on computers has not exhausted itself completely (not to mention the consoles) - many spend a whole weekend in such games, and developers are happy to release more and more new products. Especially popular games with multiplayer (including MMORPG), where you can combine the gameplay and communication with others. In this case, you can not do without a good gaming headset, and it's hard to find a manufacturer on the market that could compare in this segment with HyperX.

To us on the test came the novelty of the model line HyperX - Cloud Alpha , and as we know about the brand firsthand (with the Cloud Revolver and Cloud Revolver S relations still do not stop), did not miss the opportunity to do a survey. Since the new gaming headset has a clear similarity with the Cloud and Cloud II models, it becomes even more interesting to look at this device.

The cover of the Cloud Alpha is made in the usual HyperX tones - a stylish black box with aggressive red inserts. On the front panel, the manufacturer immediately indicates compatibility with PCs, PS4, Xbox One (Mac too, by the way, is) and other devices. Under the cover itself is a box with a rigid frame, so if you accidentally drop it, the headset will remain intact. Inside - the headphones themselves, which even in this form amaze with their size, and a microphone.

In addition, two 1.3 meter long cables and 2 meters for connection to various sound sources were put in the kit, as well as a soft carry case. The latter you are unlikely to often use, yet this headset, like its predecessors, is more intended for stationary use (except for the championship for Counter Strike it to take).

Design

Outwardly, the Cloud Alpha is very similar to the previous HyperX headsets - it's no surprise that almost all models are based on well-known Takstar Pro 80 headphones. The headphones are made of aluminum, which is "diluted" with plastic inserts and eco-leathers - earpieces and headband are made of it.

Adherence to the head is admirable - yet the aluminum frame makes itself felt, also the foam filler of the headband with spectacular memory plays its role. In our opinion, the headband is slightly harder than the same Cloud Revolver, but here, probably, you need to make a discount on the fact that the headphones are new, and Revolver has been in use for a long time.

The cups on the outside are covered with a touchy plastic with the HyperX logo, while the manufacturer has provided for the possibility of tilting them 45 degrees so that users with a large head size can also comfortably use the headset. Plus, you can fix the headband in special indentations on the inside.

In this model, the manufacturer seems to have decided to completely abandon the glossy plastic - everywhere we are matte, which, in combination with the red color, looks impressive, even though it collects fingerprints "with a bang." There is the possibility of replacing the ear cups - it is hardly useful, since the quality of performance has become much higher than that of the first Cloud. Eco-leather minimizes sweating of ears, and the increased depth of the ear cups allowed to increase the distance from the speaker to the auricle, which had a positive effect on the sound.

On the lower edge of the left cup are located 3.5 mm ports for cable and microphone. The port for the main cable is equipped with guides, which are needed for more reliable fastening. At the microphone, the rotation protection is realized by means of a special key.

By the way, about the microphone. This is quite a familiar accessory from HyperX, which is equipped with a flexible leg for installing the microphone in any convenient position. Without protection from the "wind" noise is not managed, so that other players your breathing and other disturbances will not hear.

The cable is flexible, in a reliable fabric braiding and consists of two parts. The first is equipped with a 3.5-mm plug to connect to mobile devices and set-top boxes, so the length of it is small - 1.3 meters. But there is a control panel with a volume wheel and a switch for the microphone. It connects an "extension cord" 2 meters long and with two 3.5 mm jacks at the end - one for the microphone, the other for the headphones.

Sound

The dynamics in this model are represented by 50-mm dynamic drivers with neodymium magnets, while the two-chamber design is an important difference from previous HyperX models. Due to the latter, a better separation of mid and high frequencies from low frequencies is achieved, distortions are minimized, and the sound becomes more detailed and "crystal clear".

Due to the optimal clamping force in the headphones, you can easily hold up to 9 hours of play and not get tired, which can not but rejoice. Despite the absence of velor ear cups, the entire structure sits comfortably on the head - in general, the impression of use is only positive. Due to the new design of the speakers and the holes in the upper part, the sound has changed. Low frequencies have become less dense, so the average frequencies can be traced much better. As an option - "tweak" the equalizer, but for most gamers it is not required. High frequencies do not "ring" and please with their detail, so the sound in games is worthy of respect.

It's annual!

The new model HyperX Cloud Alpha perfectly continues the line of headphones of the famous manufacturer due to the use of two-chamber speakers, stylish design and improved ergonomics (although, it would seem, much better?). For gamers of all generations, this is a must have, which is worth every ruble spent, and it costs a lot compared to other solutions - 8 990 rubles . But you will feel the difference immediately, and for this it is worth overpaying an extra couple of thousand rubles.
