I sometimes get the feeling that 1More is a company called "Robin Hood", created to take technology from top models and implement them in a more accessible segment. After very nice three-wheel hybrids, I really wanted to get to know their model with 4 emitters, and now this desire is fulfilled.
On the official site of 1More, unfortunately, there is no information on setting the crossover of headphones data. There are generally few technical details (except for the story that tuned sound was helped by Grammy Award-winning engineer Luca Bignardi). Yes, the speaker is made with a diaphragm of carbon nanotubes, yes, 3 armatures ... Fortunately, preparing for the review, in some interview with the developers, I read that they used an unusual tuning: the speaker is responsible for the low and low half of the midrange, and all the " "Went to the high-frequency and high-frequency range. To claim that it is 100% so, I, naturally, can not, but there is reason to think so by the sound.
A particularly pleasant moment is the price, the worldwide recommended price tag of this model is $ 200 (or higher), and in Russia you can buy 1More Quad Driver for only 7,990 rubles (the price at the time of review).

Packing and delivery kit
As always with 1More, with the box everything is just fine. Spectacular printing of a black "dust jacket", the usual brown cardboard of the main box, a stylish beige inner color, a film that protects the headphones from opening - it all looks very cool. Add to the picture unusual prints on the inside of the box and carefully selected accessories. In addition to the headphones themselves, they were put in the kit:
- convenient cover of black leatherette with magnetic valve
- clip for attaching to clothing (and not vulgar pins as usual)
- absolutely eye-popping adapter for two mono 3.5 mm jacks (I'm not kidding here, I do not know why it's so beautiful, but the fact is obvious)
- adapter for 6.3 mm jacks
- three pairs of foam nozzles of different sizes
- 6 pairs of silicone tips of different sizes
- instruction / guarantee / corporate sticker
Even in the packing of baits, attention is felt, all the landing nozzles are labeled in diameter in millimeters, so that you can finally find out the diameter of your ear canal.
Design and comfortable wearing
In appearance, 1More made a big step forward. Their three-wheel model looked not bad, but, in comparison with them, Quad Driver look like Tesla on a background of GAZ-24. Metallic bodies are streamlined in a form of a red strip-cut, the build quality is ideal, in appearance this model can compete with headphones several times more expensive.
The hulls themselves are made quite compact, but their soundtrack is short and wide enough, so the tips for wearing will have to be chosen more carefully than usual, the benefit is a lot of them. I admit that some individual "lucky" these headphones can not sit down at all, but I did not experience fixing problems. Initially, this model is designed for traditional carrying wire down, but I easily wore them and zaushno. Due to the short sound guide and the rather open design, the soundproofing of the Quad Driver is slightly below average, however, for everyday wearing on the street it is quite enough.
The cable, although not interchangeable, is made very reliably, as insulation is used thermoplastic polyurethane, inside the wire is reinforced with Kevlar, which as a result gives the necessary flexibility, resistance to cold and softness, allowing the wire not to get very tangled and hardly rustle from friction against clothing. The developers also took care of the mechanical protection: near the headphone casing the cable is protected by a metal "leg", the splitter block and the plug are also equipped with a protection against fractures.
On the wire going to the right earpiece, there is a three-button headset unit, it is made very high quality, completely made of metal, with a pleasant click of the buttons. The quality of the microphone is above average, speech is transmitted well.
Sound
The following equipment was used for listening.
- Yulong DA9 and Resonessence Labs Concero HP as DAC and Amplifier
- Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2016 as a source
- Fidelia as a player
- Lotoo PAW Gold, theBit OPUS # 2 and iBasso DX200 and others as portable players
- High Definition Records in Lossless-formats (Dr. Chesky The Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc and others)
Before listening to the headphones were warmed for 48 hours, noticeable changes in the sound was not observed.
I knew that 1More designed headphones for Xiaomi, and after getting to know the models released under the brand name of the Chinese giant, expected the worst. Fortunately, it turned out that for their models, developers choose a much more conservative and high-quality sound handwriting. In the three-driver model, the company's engineers tested a neutral, but not boring tuning, created for fans of uncomplicated filing. For the four-drivers, they decided to add spectacularity and "forged" a slightly V-shaped AFC, providing a spectacular and engaging sound.
The bass is slightly accented, and the accent is made very neatly and is not limited to the strictly midbasa area, sinking a little lower. Thus, this model provides a very weighty and tasty "backing" track, on which the main body of the melody is built. Fans of deep layers of low and bumpy shock this model does not fit, the bass here ottyuningovan towards naturalness, which positively affects the transfer of the nature of "real" instruments. Very good for its price category, although not in a rebar high-speed characteristics and transmission of textures.
Medium frequencies are saved here from the main scourge of most inexpensive hybrids - the junction of the emitters, apparently due to the fact that the speaker is also "blowing away" the speaker too. The midrange range is slightly overshadowed, but this emphasis is made very elegantly and moderately, so there are no negative effects at all. The resolution of the midrange is not prohibitive, but very good, which allows the headphones to play out the emotions and nuances of the recording without problems. The imaginary scene is more than average in width (apparently partially affected by the open design) and medium in depth, but positioning the instruments and working out the plans in depth are very good; on large-scale tracks, headphones can surprise with this parameter.
The upper frequency range clearly carries traces of successful tuning of the emitters. There is no excessive sharpness, problem regions from 3 to 8 kHz are slightly pressed (but without superfluous fanaticism), at the same time a reasonable peak is made in the region of 10 kHz, which provides the necessary effect of airiness and lightness. Of course, these are not flawless HF expensive reinforcing multidirectors, but this is not traditional consumer goods in the style of "choose: either it rings or it's dead". The upper frequencies here are pleased with a good detail (for a given price category, of course) and fading, but attacks would not be prevented by more accentuation.
Perhaps, without a few comparisons here is indispensable.
Fiio F9 . The most popular competitor of this model. Abroad, these earphones and heroes of today's review differ in price exactly 2 times, but the local market dictates its laws, and in Russia the price of these two models is close. On the side of the Fiio headphones, the best landing and a little more articulated low frequencies (the difference is not great), at MF more or less parity, while the 1More HF is clearly more versatile due to less sharp emissions.
1More Triple Driver . As I wrote above - there is another concept of sound, a more monitored pitch, with a greater emphasis on the mid-range, but a worse study of the "edges," especially the HF. Plus, of course, on the side of the Quad Driver is an obvious advantage in design.
Magaosi K3 HD . Ideologically close model, also offering a "taste" frequency response, but with a greater emphasis on V-imagery, more powerful LFs, slightly more aggressive HF (although for "non-fans" there are damping filters), slightly more lightweight, but improved by the resolution of the MF, due to using the reinforcing radiator.
Ostry KC09 . Perhaps one of the best single-driver dynamic headphones, especially after a rebate of up to $ 100. Ostry is less focused on HF, offering a slightly darker pitch (very little), but it sounds more detailed on the midrange, while offering a more seamless, very musical pitch.
Compatibility
On the one hand, the headphones are equipped with a headset, which seems to hint at their "mobile" application, again, the sensitivity and impedance of this model is quite "to the teeth" of modern phones, and with good smartphones sound good. But in fact these IEM still have a sufficient margin of quality for players of the upper-primary or lower-middle segments.
Genre headphones are very versatile, but, say, on orchestral music, chamber recordings, vocals and other "audiophile" tracks, they show an unprecedented effect for the price category (although they do not reach the tops, but they are very entertaining). To the quality of the record, the model is fairly tolerant, on a 10-point scale somewhere around 6 points.
Traditional sample tracks
Pink Floyd - The Nile Song . One of those tracks that became a harbinger and in many ways the ancestor of the whole "burden". Despite the rather coarse form, the composition carries a charge of melodism characteristic of Pink Floyd, which 1More QD helps to reveal.
Danny Elfman - A Brass Thing . Not everyone knows Denny Elfman, but meanwhile he is the person who created music for the "Simpsons", "Desperate Housewives", almost all the works of Burton and a bunch of other films and serials. His symphonic album Serenada Schizophrana is a perfect example of modern classics, epic, but not boring. With a spectacular performance of 1More, this composition will allow you to experience all this to the fullest.
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Justice for Saint Mary . If there are groups that can interfere with different genres as easily as DSOs do, then I do not know them. Just about, after 5 years of waiting, the light will see their new album "Pacifisticuffs", but for now it's time to listen, how it ended "in the last series", and it ended with this particular track. The unexpected mix of lyric ballad with almost dubstep still sounds like a revelation, especially if good headphones allow you to enjoy all the nuances of the melody.
conclusions
1More continue to surprise not only design and sound, but also the price. Their headphones offer configurations that are most often found only in the upper-middle segment and above, but at a very affordable price. Four-wheel hybrids are not without reason the status of the flagships of the company's line, offering a delicious feed with a V-shaped AFC, a stylish design and a very nekusachy price tag.
By the way, if you want to look at the headphones in more detail, I made a video review devoted to this model.
