Last time it turned out to be quite productive for headphones budget (relative to the main mass of the monitored) segment. At the same time, some models force one to wonder: "how could they do this for this price?". Today, let's talk about such headphones, Alpha & Delta D3.
Stand out in the budget segment - the task is not from the lungs, and different manufacturers solve it in different ways. Someone is copying the design of popular flagship models, someone is trying to pump more emitters, someone is combining these approaches ... In Alpha & Delta they decided that they would not be interested in these ways, and did otherwise. I, perhaps, will stretch the intrigue a little and I will not list here the main features of the model, unless I call the price: only 35 dollars.

- Impedance: 16Ω
- Rated Power: 1mW
- Frequency range: 10 Hz - 20 kHz
- Sensitivity: 92 dB / mW
- Cable: 1.2 m, silver plated copper

Packing and delivery kit
The box is made of non-thick cardboard, the polygraphy is made in interesting gray-black colors, inside is an insert of transparent plastic with headphones and accessories. And here we are waiting for the first surprise, the last a lot:
- three pairs of single-flange silicone attachments
- a pair of two-flange
- a pair of three-flange "Christmas tree"
- very cool case made of thick skin
- leather buttonhole with a "button" for wire scrubbing
Here, by the way, is the case when the cover falls in love with itself at first sight.
Design and comfortable wearing
From the second glance, attention is drawn to the D3 itself. Very small, ergonomic bodies made of metal, and judging by the weight, it did not save. Chromed design is also successfully selected: effectively and not very brightly. The build quality is also close to the reference one. The only case when these cool cases can be a problem is winter frosts, but in the cold any metal IEM will be, to put it mildly, not an ideal choice.
In general, with a strong desire, the headphones can be worn with a wire down, but still the bats are much more natural for them. D3 fit well in the ears, providing both decent comfort in wearing, and soundproofing is slightly better than average.
The strength of this model is the cable. Fortunately, they did not make it changeable, but tried to do it as qualitatively as possible, starting with plastic overlays protecting from fractures, ending with a splitter and a plug - everything is as strong as possible. What's funny is that the plug is made at an angle of 45 ° - apparently, as a compromise between the straight and angular variants. Very good are the cable conductors themselves: soft, with good weaving, attractive silver color - in general, the wire looks much more expensive than this price. Also pleasing and performance characteristics, the wire is soft, little gets confused, it almost does not harden in the cold.
Sound
The following equipment was used for listening.
- Yulong DA9 and Resonessence Labs Concero HP as DAC and Amplifier
- Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2016 as a source
- Fidelia as a player
- Lotoo PAW Gold, theBit OPUS # 2, Astell & Kern A & ultima SP1000 and others as portable players
- High Definition Records in Lossless-formats (Dr. Chesky The Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc and others)
Before listening to the headphones were warmed for 48 hours, changes in the sound it did not.
In the tuning of the D3 Alpha & Delta were guided by the mass sound, so these headphones turned out, of course, not audiophile, with a slightly darkened, but very pleasant presentation. The model adds a little emotion to the notes, which sounds impressive, albeit not always natural.
LFs are slightly accented, but without surplus. The bass is massive, but it has a very good speed for this price category. The bottom in the filing of this model goes very deep, although, of course, the control of deep low frequencies is not ideal, but at least they do not drown out everything. Despite the general tendency to "weight", the headphones do not turn everything into a monotonous rumble.
Middle frequencies are slightly smoothed, without emphasis on microdetails, instead headphones offer a good study at the macro level and a pleasant addition of emotions - in general, the sound is tuned so that even not very high quality tracks remain listenable, and those that are written better - played more- less so, as conceived by the authors. The imaginary scene is slightly less than the average in depth and width, but this is expected for headphones with a slightly darkened pitch, especially since most styles, under which they are "sharpened," assume a fairly intimate pitch.
The RFs are well-developed in terms of quality, but they are quantitatively allocated to a three-fold plan for the sake of "comfortable sound." Despite the quantitative weakening, HF is very good in length, which is beneficial to the overall supply balance and allows the headphones not to sound with an unhealthy bias in the dark sound.
Especially to describe the comparison will not work, since I do not have a lot of headphones in this price segment. I can remember except that Dunu DN-12, also a good budget, but in many ways opposite in the filing. The Dunu model is better on the HF (primarily due to the amount), and the D3 is better at the LF (more collected and elastic) and slightly more interestingly transmit the SCH due to the added emotions.
Compatibility
Despite the low impedance, the headphones are not very sensitive, which allows them to work without problems even with noisy sources. In general, they can be used with a phone, but without a headset, it probably will not be so convenient, plus very low-power smartphones will need to turn up louder than usual. So I would still recommend to the D3 some entry-level player, they will harmoniously complement most inexpensive models.
Stylistically, these headphones, of course, are best suited to music, "loving" accent on bass (different electronic music, pop, jazz, etc.), but most other genres sound pretty decent (for this price, naturally). To the quality of recording, the model is loyal, on the 10-point scale of "pickiness" they will score somewhere points.
Traditionally, several examples
Simply Red - Say You Love Me. Well than to test the bass headphones, if not high-quality pop music? A pleasant base from the rhythm section, a good working out of the instruments, a correct transmission of emotions on the vocals - all you need to decorate the day with a ballad about love.
Kovacs - Fool Like You. That's really really boring song, it has something from the modern melancholy pop (fortunately, a little), something from ethnic tunes, something from the classical orchestral pop hits of the 60's, evoking memories of Bondiana's screensavers. The only thing that it does not have is monotony, and D3 takes on the job of demonstrating all this kaleidoscope, favorably emphasizing the bass base.
Gothan Project - Panamericana. Only I was going to put into this collection some modern latino funk, as it ended, and Flow brought me this wonderful hit, just created for Alpha & Delta D3 - driving rhythm section, an exciting basic melody, rushing from one country to another ... In general, and for the ear of delight, and for the tests the track is more than good.
conclusions
Unusual for the budget segment, the combination of quality, good design and a good set of delivery is complemented by a pleasant darkened sound, which will appeal to fans of "mass" sound. It remains only to note that the available segment has recently been more pleased with its innovations.
